VIDEO – Murray’s sacrifices clearly paying dividends

Amidst the downpour, we still have semi-finalists in the men and women’s draws. Muguruza, Stosur, Wawrinka and Murray are the illustrious contenders so far. But more on that another time.

I concentrate here on the latter – a one Andy Murray, for so long a stalwart at the very summit of the sport, and now a very integral part of the Big Four and a possible sub-sector of a Big Two with Novak.

The proof of his credentials lies not with his illustrious coach roster, but in the early sacrifice he made to commit to the clay at a young age.

A decision that encapsulates his style of play and is proving the difference now.

One of the Scot’s partners, Standard Life helped to shed more light on this and other aspects of Andy’s career by creating a series of short films focusing on his undeniable ambition and dedication to succeed.

Looking back for the first time, Murray reflects on his 13 year-old-self expressing his desire to play at Wimbledon and become a top ten player. Fascinating stuff and increasingly relevant as the Scot could – in the space of less than 12 months – quite easily clinch titles at Roland Garros and next year’s Australian Open and thus join an elite few in claiming all four majors. An amazing feat for a player who has achieved so much and more.

The ‘Master Your Dreams’ campaign sees a new film released around the time of each Grand Slam this year (so expect more this summer).
