The tournament is picking up pace now with some standout stars and epic matches emerging. We have lost some big names as others remain steady to provide some mouthwatering match-ups in the next few days.
We start with the men this time and while Djokovic and Federer looked sublime in their rapid victories, there were big exits elsewhere. Slight bad-boy Tennys Sangdren continues to love Australia and defeated 8th seed Berrettini in an epic five-setter. Other marathon matches saw Cilic beat Paire and American Tommy Paul inflict the latest Australian heartbreak on Grigor Dimitrov. One of the matches of the day on paper never came to fruition as Kohlschreiber withdrew with a muscle strain leaving Tsitsipas to face Raonic next. Other danger men Bautista-Agut, Schwartzman and Querrey did all advance however.
We had some big names fall from the women’s side also. Petra Martic (lost to Goerges) and Sabalenka (lost to Suarez-Navarro) are out against dangerous opponents. Osaka, Kvitova, Serena and Barty continue to look on top form. Wozniacki and Gauff (who plays Osaka next) aren’t going anywhere just yet either.
Day 4 matches to look out for
