Roland Garros 2022: QUARTER fINAL PREDICTIONS

Business end stuff now, cue some hopeless at-a-glance predictions.

Djokovic vs Nadal
The headline event should be an unmissable display, even if it almost certainly will not rival the contest-for-the-ages last time out. Rafa’s five set struggle with Felix was very telling. Djokovic in 4

Zverev vs Alcaraz
Another potential barnstormer, could actually go either way despite the Spaniard’s top billing and universal hype, but he has struggled and Zverev is a genuine contender himself of course. Alcaraz in 4

Ruud vs Rune
Going for Ruud here, just because he has overcome a few more tests so far and has that belief flowing through his pores. Ruud in 3

Rublev vs Cilic
Rublev is a bit of an unknown to me, which probably means i cannot call myself a serious tennis fan but hey ho. Cilic’s absolute demolition of Medvedev last night was a joy to watch, but something tells me he will fail to show here. Rublev in 4

Swiatek vs Pegula
The Pole marches on surely. But Pegula is gutsy enough and has the quality to take a set. Swiatek in 3.

Kudermetova vs Kasatkina
I profess again to know little about Kudermetova, but her list of conquests in Paris – and her 29th seeding – clearly points to someone able to triumph anywhere on the day. But Kasatkina has looked very impressive here and is my pick. Kasatkina in 3.

Trevisan vs Fernandez
The Canadian has timed it perfectly, finding her US Open form when it matters most. Could go either way this as Trevisan herself is on fire and looks fearless, a refreshing player to watch. Fernandez in 3

Gauff vs Stephens
The highlight match at this stage in the women’s draw, is this Gauff’s time to properly establish herself at the majors amidst the stratospheric rise of other starlets and at the US of all places. Stephens – herself in that bracket only 5 years ago – will have something to say. Stephens in 3
